Now known as the 718 Boxster, the new 4th generation model is basically a Cayman Roadster, with identical chassis and powertrain.
Performance depends on your choice of model and transmission. The 2.5 litre Boxster 'S', hits 0-60mph in 4.4 sec (manual) or 4.2 sec (PDK) or even 4.0 sec (PDK Sport Chrono). Top speed is around 175mph for all variants.
Styling wise you'd behard pressed to spot the differences over the 981, but the high quality fit and finish is particularly evident in the facelifted cabin, now with a state of the art integrated infotainment system.
Porsche have been knocked for replacing the previous well loved flat-6 with the turbo flat-4, but in reality they had little choice in a world of ever tightening emission regulations. The flipside of this is superb fuel economy - 39mpg in a car this fast is remarkable.
Despite losing 2 cylinders, the £54k Boxster S remains at the top of its class in the sports roadster market.
