Debuting at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ferrari Portofino convertible replaces the California in the Maranello lineup.
The Portofino (named after a scenic Italian village) continues where the California left off, as a practical 2+2 seater GT with electric folding hard top. The whole package is improved, with an extra 40hp from the 3.9 litre twin-turbo V8 , although the 0-200kmh sprint of 10.8 sec is only a marginal improvement on its predecessor. It does however incorporate Variable Boost Management (for enhanced torque delivery and fuel consumption) along with E-Diff3 (limited slip differential) and F1-Trac (enhanced traction control). Infotainment is taken care of with a 10 inch TFT (with an additional display for passengers), and comfort oriented 18-way electric seats.
At around the £170k mark in the UK, the Portofino is the entry level model in Ferrari's range. As the California accounted for over 20% of Ferrari sales, a lot rests on the reaction to the Portofino, which if first impressions are anything to go by, should not be a problem.
