First revealed at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, the 400GT was Lamborghini's second production car, following on from the essentially similar 350GT.
The 400GT came in two versions. The first (known as the 400 GT 'Interim') was basically the same car as the 350GT but with a 4 litre V12 engine. The later 400 GT '2+2' was fully restyled by Carrozzeria Touring, with a roomier interior to accommodate four passengers along with twin headlamp units. The Dallara designed 4 litre V12 pushed out an impressive 320hp, transmitted through a new Lamborghini designed 5-speed synchro gearbox, replacing the ZF unit from the 350GT.
Just under 250 GTs were produced between 1966-68 at an asking price of $14k. Auction values for the desirable Aluminium bodied cars can now fecth over $750k!
