Designed to celebrate Pininfarina's 50th anniversary, the Pinin concept saloon could have become the first 4-door Ferrari ever made.
Revealed to the public at the 1980 Turin Motor Show without an engine, the Pinin subsequently received the 512BB's 5-litre flat 12, front mounted rather than mid for the BB. The chassis was courtesy of a Ferrari 400GT.
The Fioravanti styling is firmly set in the 1980s, but despite this, the Pinin actually featured some advanced technical innovations that have since found their way into production models.
It was Sergio Pininfarina's hope that Ferrari would take the design to production to compete in the saloon market with the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes, but alas this never came to be. The car was made road legal and offered for sale in 2010 for around £1m.
