The Series 3 Elise has been around since 2011, retaining the familiar fibreglass Elise shape, but with restyled headlamps, alloys and aero. In the case of the 2016 Cup 250, you get a prominent rear wing, track oriented Billstein dampers with Eibach springs and exceptional racing brakes, all sittings on sticky Yokohama tyres.
The supercharged 1.8 litre Toyota powerplant offers up 250hp (243bhp). With a kerb weight of just 921kg (shaving 20kg from the standard Elise) the power to weight is a respectable 270bhp/ton.
The interior is still cheap and basic, without any of the expected functions of a modern sports car, but does what it says on the tin (with the exception of the torturous fabric roof).
Quality is questionable and its too expensive at £46k, pitching it in with the likes of the 718 Boxster, but it's badge ensures it still has a place in the burgeoning track day market.
