Profile |
|
Based on the C6 Corvette ZR1, the Mantide concept was revealed to the world via YouTube, initially known as 'Project M'.
Despite the Bertone pedigree, the Mantide was striking rather than beautiful, but nevertheless highly advanced for it's time, with high downforce aero and lightweight carbon fibre body panels. This helps boost the Mantide's performance over that of the base ZR1 (along with a 50bhp increase), with a top speed of 218mph and 0-60mph in 3 seconds flat.
As in the ZR1, roadholding was superb, enhanced by the high downforce and reduced drag of the Castriota designed bodywork. An FIA rollcage signified it's track intent.
10 production examples were orignally proposed, but only a single car was ever produced. Unsurprising, with a cost of around $2 million!
