The DB6 succeeded the legendary DB5 in 1965, offering it's occupants a similar level of performance but with more interior room, improved ride quality and added functionality. This is also the first opentop Aston to carry the 'Volante' name.
The Marek designed 4 litre straight six produced 325bhp in Vantage guise. Although slightly down on acceleration compared to the lighter DB5, the DB6 now hit a genuine 150mph top speed.
Passenger comfort was vastly improved over the DB5, with a 10cm increase in wheelbase making for a far more practical GT. For the first time, power steering was also an option.
The Mark II DB6 arrived in 1969, differentiated by flared bodywork.
At around £5000 when new, the DB6 was amongst the most expensive of it's contemporaries, but nothing compared to the £1 million now being asked for the rare Vantage Volante.
