The all aluminium 6th generation Mercedes SL debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 sounds amazing, producing a whopping 577bhp chanelled through the Speedshift automatic transmission. A limited top speed of 155mph can be increased to a more becoming 186mph by specifying the optional drivers pack.
A bucketload of high tech features are included as standard, including adaptive damping, torque vectoring, colission prevention, attention assist and even a 'magic vision' winsdscreen wiper system!
The SL underwent a mid-term facelift in 2016, with a redesigned front end and lighting clusters. Now retailing at around the £120k mark, the SL63 remains the classy choice for superfast continental cruising.
