Profile |

Monteverdi's High Speed series was first introduced at the 1967 Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of the 375S convertible. Power was courtesy of an enormous 7.2 litre Chrysler V8 engine with up to 375hp (hence the model name).
The first examples featured Frua bodywork, superceded by the 2nd generation Fissore bodied cars from 1969.
The High Speed was available as a 2-seater coupe (375S), convertible (375C), 4-door saloon (375/4) and 2+2 seat GT (375L). The luxurios 375/4 saloon had many state of the art features for it's day, such as air conditioning, power steering, electric partition and even a TV!
The mid 1970's fuel crisis spelled the end for the High Speed 375 (around 60 were built), but Monteverdi continued with production of SUVs and Formula One racing until founder Peter Monteverdi's death in 1998.
