Volvo sub-brand Polestar introduced the '1' hybrid coupe in 2018, with production beginning in China from 2019.
Three electric motors (driving the rear) are supplemented by a 2-litre supercharged AND turbocharged combustion engine (driving the front), producing a combined 600 hp and impressive 1000 Nm of torque. Polestar claim a range of 150 Km in pure electric mode.
Bodywork is formed from carbon fire reinforced polymer (CFRP) with a steel underbody for lightness and rigidity, and features a large panoramic roof.
Not cheap at around £135k in the UK (but only £110k in the US!), it is pitched right up with the likes of Porsche and bentley. Although the price could be justified when you consider that only 500 will be made worldwide.
