Profile |
|
After a gap of nearly 20 years, Maserati re-introduced the Ghibli name in 2013, with the return of the 3rd generation M157 super saloon.
The 3-litre twin-turbo V6 is built by Ferrari, and offered with 345bhp in standard trim or 424bhp in the 'S' variant. There is even a diesel on offer, if you really must. Drive is through a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox to either two or four wheels (in LHD 'S Q4' versions). Maserati's optional Skyhook adaptive damping system provides smooth and sporting handling.
The Ghibli is similar in many respects to it's stablemate the Quattroporte. However, the Ghibli is both smaller and less powerful than it's sibling. Think BMW 5-series and 7-series for comparison.
The £60k Ghibli is aimed at those who want to stand out from the crowd, acknowledging that Maserati remains a niche market player compared to the likes of Audi, Mercedes and BMW.
