Ford's 1965 Mustang signalled the introduction of the 'Pony Car' to the American sports car market. Four variants were produced throughout it's 9 year production run, known as the 64½, 67, 69 and 71 model years.
The 67 redesign was primarily to accommodate a big-block V8. Claimed power output was as high as 375bhp (and unofficially a lot more) in the case of the 'Boss' Mustang, with it's 429 in³ (7-litre) capacity and 4-barrel Holley carburettors. Transmission was a choice between 3-speed auto and 4-speed manual.
The 1968 GT Fastback became an icon following it's legendary car chase appearance in the film 'Bullitt'. But sadly the early 70s fuel crisis and ever tightening emission laws forced the end of the first generation Mustang in 1973.
