Italian niche producer PurItalia are the latest company to launch a powerful hybrid/electric Hyper GT with their Berlinetta coupe.
The supercharged 5-litre V8 produces an impressive 740hp, but couple that with a 212hp electric motor, and you have a whopping 952hp and 920 lbft torque to play with! At just over 3000 lbs, this gives the Berlinetta an astounding 686 bhp/ton power to weight ratio, for a 7.2sec 0-200kmh and max well north of 200mph. The car can even be driven in full electric mode - for 12 miles!
The all carbon fibre bodywork has a classic long bonnet short cabin layout of a 1960s GT, but with the high tech functionality of a modern supercar. Puritalia claim to offer the highest levels of customisation possible for interior and exterior options.
150 units are planned for production from 2020, retailing at around £500k. However, Puitalia claim that they prefer to sell to connoisseurs who will appreciate their cars for what they are.
