The stunning P72 signals the return of the famed De Tomaso brand, following the marques purchase by Hong Kong based Ideal Ventures.
Based on the carbon fibre monocoque chassis of sister car the Apollo IE, the P72 is designed as a grand tourer rather than an all out track car.
The beautiful design was inspired by the 1960s De Tomaso P70 concept, and takes styling cues from Le Mans cars of that era. There is certainly more than a passing resemblance to Ferrari's P4 racer, which is a good thing! The interior is just as stunning, with copper clad instruments and quilted leather seats.
The P72 is powered by a supercharged 5-litre Ford V8, tuned by Roush to produce over 700bhp and 608 lbft of torque. No performance figures yet, but safe to say it will be fast!
Just 72 will be built from around 2024 at an approximate price of £750k. On looks alone, this is the bargain of the century! Well, it would have been, but with disputes, long delays and a doubling of the price to £1.5m, it remains to be seen if the P72 will ever actually make it to production.
