Profile |
|
The stunning new Evija electric hypercar from Lotus heralds a new era for the British manufacturer following their purchase by the Chinese Geely group.
With an output of 2000ps, the quad motor Evija is the most powerful production car ever. Top speed is quoted at over 200mph, but it is the claimed acceleration that is truly gobsmacking. 0-300kmh in under 9 seconds (4 seconds quicker than a Chiron?!) is scarcely believable.
As with any lotus, the Evija is foremost a drivers car. The carbon bodywork is not only stunningly beautiful with its optimised aero and 'negative space', but true to Lotus traditions, also extremely light. The whole car weighs in at just 3700 lbs, incredible for an all-electric vehicle.
The interior echoes the futuristic theme, with lightweight simplistic controls and modern tech such as cameras instead of mirrors.
170 units will be built from 2020, retailing at close to £2 million. Don't worry if that's over your budget, as Lotus say that much of the Evija's tech will filter down to 'lesser' models.
