Profile |
|
The last of the line De Tomaso Pantera Si was a completely redesigned and re-engineered version of the 20 year old classic.
The old Pantera was updated with a more efficient, fuel injected 5 litre V8 from the Ford Mustang, producing over 300hp. This was down almost 50 hp on it's predecessor, but still good for 160mph+. Drive was through a 5-speed manual box, with just a handful of later cars sporting the Getrag 6-speed.
The new lighter body was restyled by Marcello Gandini, complete with Ferrari F40 style rear wing. In addition, the Si gained larger 17 inch wheels, redesigned light clusters, improved suspension and powerful Brembo brakes (another nod to the F40).
Only 41 units (including 4 targe topped versions) were produced between 1990 and the end of production in 1993. Asking prices are anything up to £300k!
