2019 saw the introduction of Chevrolet's first mid-engined Corvette, with customer cars due to hit the roads in 2020.
The 6.2 litre LT2 V8 kicks out almost 500hp, over 30hp up on the C7. The optional Z51 Performance Package adds a little more power, and drops the 0-60mph time to under 3 seconds! It also adds a limited slip differential and adaptive suspension.
Afficionados may be disappointed that there is no manual option, but the Tremec 8-speed dual clutch is one of the fastest shifting around.
The striking design has a cab forward look due to the new mid-engined layout, while a hexagonal shaped steering wheel, performance data recorder and modern digial dashboard offer the kind of sporting tech only normally found in more expensive supercars. There's even a 'frunk' for additional storage.
Like all Corvette's before it, the C8 is an incredible bargain, starting at under $60k in the USA. Best news of all for UK fans, is that the C8 will be available from factory in RHD!
