The Aspid Supersport (formerly known as the IFR Aspid) was a higher quality, more expensive take on the Caterham 7.
This highly capable track toy was powered by Honda's 2-litre engine from the S2000, supercharged to 400hp, with a screaming 9000rpm redline. When combined with a featherweight 740kg body, the resulting 542 bhp/ton PWR gave sub 3-sec 0-60mph capability - seriously quick in 2008.
The bodywork is certainly Caterham like, but boasts upmarket features like scissor doors and an F1-style carbon steering wheel, complete with data logging facility.
The Aspid was certainly a force to be reckoned with in the blooming track day market, but the £90k+ asking price seemed a little high at the time, limiting the appeal of this innovative Spanish sports car.
