Mercedes created the third in their vaunted 'Black' Series, with the 2012 introduction of the C63 AMG Black.
The Black series' 6.2 litre V8 gains an additional 60 bhp over the 'standard' C63 AMG, dropping the 0-60mph time to 4 seconds flat. Top speed is a limited 300 kmh.
Suspension changes and a wider track help make the Black Series the best handling AMG to date.
The 'Black' look consists of flared out arches, additional front intakes and (with the optional aero package) an adjustable carbon rear wing. The rear seats are removed and the fronts replaced with racing buckets (although the standard AMG 4 seat layout can be optioned).
At over £100k, the Black is a significant chunk extra to the C63, but considering the limited run (just 60 in the UK) and the handling prowess, it may just be the better pick.
