Mercedes' ever increasing line up was joined by the new variant of the GT, the GTC Roadster in 2018.
The GTC sits between the 'base' GTS and the hardcore GTR in the AMG GT line up, offering the everyday practicality of the former, with the track biased thrills of the latter. All three are powered by the same twin-turbo V8, with 549 bhp in the case of the GTC. 0-60mph takes just 3.6 seconds, only a tenth shy of the GTR, while max is a shade under 200mph.
The hard suspension and rear wheel steering help handling, but the GTC is not a natural on poor UK roads.
At £131k, the GTC is a significant £30k more than the GTS and only £11k shy of the flagship GTR. Difficult to decide if the GTC really is the best of both worlds, or just an expensive compromise.
