Profile |
|
The British Charge Automotive company have bought the legendary 1960s Ford Mustang bang up to date with their fully electric Mustang EV.
A 64kWh battery powered electric motor from Arrival produces 469bhp and a massive 1200 Nm of torque, enough for a 150mph max and sub 4-second 0-60mph sprint. The claimed cruising range is around 200 miles.
Charge have obtained a license from Ford to produce highly accurate original Mustang bodies, but with the benefit of modern large wheels and tyres. The high tech interior is a world away from the original Mustang, with fully customised touchscreen displays.
Just 499 examples will be built priced from a hefty £300k. It remains to be seen whether the concept of 'Mustang' and 'EV' will gel together to satisfy the tastes of modern muscle car buyers.
