A Brief History
Koenigsegg was founded in 1994, fulfilling the dream of 22 year old founder Christian von Koenigsegg to make the perfect supercar.
Despite having neither the resources or budget of the other supercar companies, the Koenigsegg team worked hard to create their first prototype (the CC) in just two years. Even more amazing when you consider that the bodywork, chassis and many other components were fully bespoke items.
Production of the roadgoing CC8s began in 2002, being well received by the motoring press and gaining the title of worlds most powerful production car. The 2005 CCR followed, eclipsing the top speed of long time record holder the McLaren F1. The limited edition One:1 `megacar` takes that one step further with a claimed world record speed of 273mph.
Koenigsegg were also pioneers in the green hypercar market with their 2007 CCXR able to run on biofuel as well as normal petrol. Their innovation continues today with the revolutionary Regera, a 1600bhp hypercar with so much torque that it does not require transmission.
