The original Solo first appeared at the 1984 Birmingham International Motor Show but never materialised into production. Undaunted, Panther released the Solo 2 in 1989 with a Turbocharged Cosworth engine (as seen in the Sierra Cosworth) mated to a 4 wheel drive system.
The package was highly attractive with a good looking body constructed form lightweight composites and highly acclaimed handling and cornering power. Unfortunately performance was thought by some to be a little disappointing and coupled with poor build quality and reliability problems, only 12 Solos were ever made.
