GM launched the third generation Corvette C3 in 1968, with production spanning a record 14 years until 1982. The chassis and engines were carried over from the C2, but with newly styled body and interior.
A variety of engines powered the C3 through its lifespan, all the way up to a 7.4 litre (454 cu in) Big Block LS6, with no less that 460hp and a 5.4sec 0-60mph sprint! However, emissions restrictions saw that figure gradually fall throughout the 70's.
The C3's swooping lines were inspired by the Corvette Mako Shark concept from the mid 1960s. The glassfibre body saw many different design transitions, with most model years introducing a new exterior or interior feature.
Well over half a million C4s were produced during it's 14 year lifespan. They can be bought for a bargain price (from £12k in the UK) but special, early models can go higher than £50k.
