The follow up to the Ecosse, the beautifully styled KZ-1 was first introduced at the 2000 Birmingham Motor Show. A 500bhp powerplant pushes the KZ1 to a 200mph top speed with 0-60mph acceleration in around 4 seconds. Handling is high quality thanks in part to the lightweight carbon fibre body but mostly due to the chassis expertise of Ascari's designers having previously honed their skills at Lotus.
Production will be limited to a run of 50, but initially they couldn't be bought! Ascari were going to give the car away FREE to customers who purchased shares in their new racing circuit complex in Spain. However, after a recent u-turn the KZ1 will be on sale for around £235k, not exactly a bargain considering the cost of rivals such ad the Ferrari 430 and Lambo Gallardo.
Ulimately, only 5 examples were built.
