Created by Giugiaro at Italdesign, the Alfa Romeo Scighera concept debuted in 1997, with the original intention of being transformed into a race car.
The concept was based on the contemporary Alfa 164, but with a twin-turbo V6 kicking out 400hp. 0-60mph was a claimed 3.7 seconds, with a projected 300kmh top speed.
The futuristic Aluminium bodywork had many stand out features, such as the F40 style rear wing, rear cooling slats, and wrap around windscreen, flanked by narrow 'clown-eyed' front headlamps. At just 45 inches high, it certainly had the looks of a race bred supercar.
With removable windows and gull wing doors, the Scighera can actually be converted into a roadster.
