Profile |
|
Retro looks and massive power led many to call the Viper the spiritual successor to the legendary Cobra and finally gave America a real rival to the all conquering Corvette.
A gargantuan 8 litre V10 truck engine allowed rapid, effortless acceleration in any gear (70 mph only required 1400rpm in sixth!) and a top speed approaching 170mph. The bodywork reflected the performance with side mounted exhausts and huge bulging arches accommodating massive 13 inch wide rear wheels.
The RT10 came in convertible form only, but a soft-top was provided for emergencies, with a hardtop becoming standard on its successor, the Viper GTS.
